HOW IT BEGAN
In 2015 six friends got together and came up with a crazy idea...what if you could bike around the entire Bay Area? How long would that take? How many miles would it be? There was no route, no support and no idea how they were going to do it, but fast forward several years, the Richmond bridge opened to cyclists and a new event was born: Bike The Bay. 2022 will be our 7th year doing this ride and for the first time will feature support cars, a race coordinator, an official jersey and sponsors.
This ride is lightly supported, but generally, each rider is responsible carrying for his/her/their own food, water, and gear. While we will have organized stops at the grocery stores listed above where you can use the restroom and buy additional provisions, there are no rest stations. We will have one/a few SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles carrying additional calories, hydration, and cycling gear and which can rescue a rider in distress, should the need arise.
Additionally, it is required that each rider or group of riders be trackable during the duration of the ride. We will be sharing location via Signal App throughout the day.
We welcome riders of all abilities and experience levels! Please reach out to email@example.com if you have questions.
